Verses for the Season

Twelve anchors to hold to, each with a word about why it matters out here.

Isaiah 40:31

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary.”

When the days are long and your feet are heavy, this is the promise: waiting on God is not doing nothing. It is resting while He renews you.

Philippians 4:6–7

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Trade the worry for a prayer, even a short one. Peace that makes no sense to the world is promised right on the other side.

Joshua 1:9

“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is knowing Who walks beside you into whatever the day holds.

Psalm 139:1–3

“O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.”

You are fully known. Not one hard moment, not one quiet tear, escapes His notice — or His care.

Matthew 11:28–30

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest… For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Set the heavy things down for a minute. He never asked you to carry them alone.

Romans 5:5

“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

Hope in God never runs dry, because it is fed by His love poured straight into your heart.

Psalm 23:1–2

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

On the ranch you know what good pasture means. He leads you there too — beside still waters, where the soul can breathe.

Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

You do not have to figure everything out today. Trust first; the path will show itself.

Lamentations 3:22–23

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Every sunrise over the ranch is a fresh delivery of mercy. Yesterday is spent; today is new.

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Four promises in one breath: I am with you, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will hold you up.

Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will joy over thee with singing.”

Picture it: God singing over you. Not scolding. Singing.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Sometimes the bravest thing is to sit still on the porch and let God be God.

Short Prayers You Can Pray

No fancy words needed. He hears the heart behind them.

When you’re tired

“Lord, I am worn out today. You know it all already. Fill me back up, give me rest tonight, and enough strength for tomorrow. Amen.”

When you miss Tony

“Father, thank You for Tony. Keep him close, keep him safe, and keep us close in heart even when we are apart. Amen.”

When the day went sideways

“God, today did not go the way I hoped. I give You the mess. Fix what I can’t and steady me for what’s next. Amen.”

For peace at night

“Lord, quiet my mind. Whatever I am carrying, You can carry it better. Let me sleep in Your peace tonight. Amen.”

Thank You

“Thank You, Father, for this day, for our home, for Tony, and for every small mercy I forget to count. Amen.”

When you’re worried

“God, I keep rehearsing the what-ifs. I hand them to You, one by one. You go before me. Amen.”

For the ranch

“Lord, bless this land, the animals, the work of our hands. Make our little piece of heaven a place of peace. Amen.”

When you feel alone

“Jesus, You promised You would never leave me. Remind my heart of it right now. Amen.”

Little Stories & Reflections

Old stories, true ones, and what they whisper to us today.

The One That Wandered

A shepherd had a hundred sheep. One wandered off. He left the ninety-nine in the open country and went after the one lost sheep until he found it. Then he carried it home on his shoulders, rejoicing. Jesus said heaven throws a party over one who comes home. Takeaway: if you ever feel like the one who wandered, you are the one He comes looking for.

The Lilies of the Field

Jesus said to consider the lilies: they do not toil or spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of them. If God clothes the grass of the field, will He not much more clothe you? Takeaway: the God who dresses the hillsides in wildflowers will not forget to take care of you.

The Mustard Seed

The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed — the smallest of seeds — yet when it is grown it becomes a tree where the birds find shelter. Takeaway: small faith planted today becomes shelter tomorrow. Water it, even when it looks like nothing.

The Storm Stilled

The disciples woke Jesus in a rocking boat, afraid. He stood and said, “Peace, be still.” And the wind died down and it was completely calm. Takeaway: the same voice that stilled that sea can still the storm in your heart. Ask Him to speak it.

The Widow’s Oil

A widow had one jar of oil left and nothing else. The prophet told her to keep pouring, and the oil did not run out until every need was met. Takeaway: God’s supply is not measured by what is in the jar, but by the One who keeps it flowing.

The Fig Tree’s Lesson

A farmer told his tired workers, do not say the harvest is far off. At the right season the tender fig branch puts forth leaves, and you know summer is near. Takeaway: seasons always turn. Whatever winter you are in, spring is already on the branch.

A Blessing Before You Go

May the Lord bless you and keep you, this day and every day.
May His peace settle over our ranch like evening light.
May you feel how loved you are — by Him, and by the one who built this page for you.
Amen.
